"Worth the trip!" 5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 6, 2015 NEW I don't give 5 stars very often. There is nothing here not to love. To get here you drive the incomparable M-119 North, Tunnel of Trees. You owe it to yourself to drive this, Arkansas 7 & the loop around Oahu at least once. There were 5 Ford Model A's parked in front when we got there. Next, the restaurant. Like the Great Northern in Twin Peaks, logs & antlers & incredibly whimsical carvings. You could spend hours looking at the owner's works. The grounds & the view of the Lake were incredible, the atmosphere supremely relaxed. Please sit outside if the weather allows.

"The view is worth it." 4 stars AUGUST 2014 "1st place we visited on our girls getaway. While you drive 20 miles up the coast viewing beautiful homes, Lake Michigan and the Tunnel of Trees come across the quirky looking Legs Inn. We ate in the garden on Lake Michigan, It was a little chilly, they have blankets to give you for that reason. Which was great for my friends that didn't bring sweaters. The flowers were in full bloom. Great scenic place to sit, relax and eat a very good meal. Three of us had the Polish sampler and the polish and carrot soup. Were all very pleased with our meals. "

"Family Favorite" 5 stars AUGUST 2014 "Our family has been coming to this restaurant for as long as I can remember and it never disappoints! The food is amazing, the gardens are beautiful, and the view of Lake Michigan is gorgeous. I cannot say enough positive things about this place. We've been coming for years and never had a bad experience. Sometimes, the wait can be a bit long, so plan accordingly... it's worth it!"

"Outdoor patio overlooking Lake Michigan" 5 stars JULY 2014 "We really enjoyed our first visit to Legs Inn...The Taste of Poland sampler was delicious and so large that my husband and I shared it. We wanted to save enough room so we could have dessert! We also shared the Szarlotka, the old-fashioned berry crumb cake and it was very good - crumb cake baked with a blend of fruit, topped with two scoops of ice cream and whipped cream. The outdoor patio is on a bluff overlooking Lake Michigan to the view was spectacular. Summer nights usually get cool in northern Michigan so I was glad I had a sweater with me...We'll definitely stop in again when we're in the area!"

"THIS SHOULD BE ON YOUR BUCKET LIST!" 5 stars JUNE 2014 "...it was a beautiful log-cabin like restaurant with great food and a spectacular view of Lake Michigan. Even though we had a group of about 50 people, the service was fast, friendly and the food was delicious. Overall, the experience was one that I would love to share with my family and I would love to go there again."

"Staying in Petoskey, we took the (Tunnel) of Trees up through Harbor Springs to the Legs Inn...This is a million dollar drive, folks, up through Harbor Springs along Lake Michigan. A bit off the beaten path, but most definitely worth it. Legs Inn is a funky little place. You can dine outdoors. Killer views...I loved the potato pancakes...They were VERY thin and crispy, served with both an applesauce as well as sour cream. Split a fabulous pierogi strawberry type dessert. Plenty enough for both of us....Soup was served with the most delicious warm rye bread...Yum! Waitress, Dawn, was gracious enough to route us back to Petoskey a bit more quickly. Attention Bikers! This has to be one fabulous drive up through the Trail of Trees!"

From Michigan Curiosities by Collen Burcar and Gene Taylor

"This is the one place where you actually hope there is a line to get in, so you can linger in the manicured gardens where the view over Lake Michigan is as close to heaven as you're likely to get on earth. Time it right and you'll catch a captivating sunset that's more than worth the wait. Or better yet, try to get one of the dining tables outside and then raise your glass in a 'Hail to Chief Smolak' Smacznego!"

Legs Inn is conveniently located near historic places: Harbor Springs, Petoskey, Mackinaw City, Cheboygan and at the end of famed scenic route M119 "Tunnel of Trees."

Located in historic Cross Village, Michigan, Legs Inn is a "monument to nature." Built on a high bluff overlooking Lake Michigan, it is unique and mysterious as seen in its architecture and decor. The fantasy-like atmosphere of this medieval looking stone, timber and driftwood landmark was created by one man, Polish immigrant, Stanley Smolak. He fell in love with Northern Michigan and its people, many of them Ottawa and Chippewa Indians and decided to settle in Cross Village in 1921.

A blend of Old World European and Indian cultures creates a memorable atmosphere. The entry foyer, tavern, game and dining rooms are all filled with an intriguing collection of nature and hand carved furniture -- whimsical creations made of tree stumps, twisted limbs and roots, driftwood sculptures and massive fieldstone fireplaces.

Authentic Polish cuisine is our specialty, but delicious American dishes, including local fresh Whitefish, are also served. The Smolak family and staff are dedicated to making your visit to Legs Inn an unforgettable experience, which will have you returning often with family and friends throughout the years.

Throughout the decades Legs Inn has become a famous family destination and restaurant. It has been acknowledged and praised by major magazines, TV broadcasters, newspapers, travel-related web sites, tour guides and guests from across the country and around the world. We look forward to your visit.
