"WHAT A TREAT!" 5 stars August 2013

"...I feel confident in saying Polish Cuisine is heavenly and this restaurant takes it to the highest level...Watching the sun set over Lake Michigan, we were treated to an outstanding dining experience. We were greeted warmly and courteously by the owners. The wait staff were all seemingly college students from Poland. Our server was very good and explained a few of the dishes we were not familiar with...The Kielbasa was about the best I have ever had. Awesome! The meat and potato Pierogi's were both great. Soups were wonderful. We tried the Zyweic Imported Polish beer...This would be an amazing 'date' place...We just relaxed and enjoyed every minute and every bite. We also bought some yummy Polish chocolate bars to enjoy the next day. If you are visiting Northern Michigan or on your way to the UP, Legs Inn is a must. Worth the trip, it's memorable...Rarely do you find such a beautiful restaurant in a beautiful setting and serving wonderful food so graciously!"

"The food and service here are outstanding. The Polish Cuisine is the best I have had in a restaurant. Servers are exchange students from Poland. Very polite and efficient service. This meal is an adventure from the drive, to the wonderful food and the view."

"CAN'T WAIT TO GO BACK!" 5 stars August 2013

"This was our fourth time going to the Legs Inn and each experience has been fantastic!!! We love the atmosphere as you sit on the patio and look out towards the water or the beautiful gardens with hand carved characters. The service is amazing...(many servers) are from in and around Poland. All of the dishes that were brought to the table were excellent as well as dessert! Honestly, I can't wait to go back for more!"

"A TERRIFIC DINNER" 5 stars August 2013

"My sister and I are staying in Charlevoix for the week, and had heard about the Tunnel of Trees (M119) drive and at the end you need to stop at Legs Inn for authentic Polish food. After a beautiful scenic drive, you could not do better than finishing with a meal here. The food was out of this world tasty, the service was great, and the decor unique. Definitely recommend to any one visiting the area, to make this a must stop. Another tip, make sure you you buy their crumb/berry cake (can't remember the polish name for it) to take home, just to full to eat it there. :). They recommended that we warm it up and serve ala mode. Yummy way to end the day." "

"Truly unique, great food and service" 5 stars July 2013

"Take some time and enjoy the atmosphere, woodwork and history of this place. Then sit down and enjoy great food and service. They do specialize in Polish food, but do offer traditional American fare as well. If the weather permits, make sure to enjoy the natural beauty of the grounds as well as the terrific view of Lake Michigan. There are no other restaurants in this immediate area, and this makes a great start or end to your trip through the tunnel of trees."

"Love the Zurek soup. Love the Pierogis. Love the Rye Bread. Etc..." 5 stars June 2013

"Great Polish food. The view cannot be beat. The owners are the nicest people. Have been going to Legs Inn since 1979. Worth the drive if you are in northern Michigan. Have tried just about everything on the menu except vegetarian dishes and have enjoyed them all. The smoked whitefish is a treat. Soooooo glad Legs is still there..."

"I'm not a particularly religious person, but sometimes I get to imagining what heaven would be like..." 5 Yelp Stars May 2013

"To me, heaven would take place at the Legs Inn. It would be just an hour or so before sunset on a warm summer evening. The Legs Inn garden would be in spectacular bloom, and its bluff overlooking Lake Michigan gives a view of a brilliant blue horizon where water meets sky. People are gathered outside, some waiting for a delicious meal and some waiting for an unforgettable sunset. Children chase each other around the grounds, laughing and calling out to each other. Everyone I've ever loved is there...Should I wander inside, I can have the finest meal ever to cap off the finest day. Pierogies or cabbage rolls, goulash or whitefish, there's no way to go wrong...I'm joined by family members, friends perhaps long-ago forgotten, maybe even strangers who have some interesting stories to tell....Like I said, it's my idea of heaven. I have a hunch that if I live this life right, that's what I get to look forward to for all eternity. But until then, I'll just have to visit it one evening at a time, each time I'm lucky to head north for a day or two."

"Insanely Delicious!" 5 stars - Reviewed Feb 2013

"I have been here twice now with my family and was extremely impressed both times! The inside decor is beautiful, and not to mention the food which is out of this world! The first time I went I had the Hungarian Goulash which was delicious, and the second time I had the (pierogies) and was equally impressed. It's a little off the beaten path, but it's so worth it! Would definitely recommend and most certainly will be back!"

From Michigan Curiosities by Collen Burcar and Gene Taylor

"This is the one place where you actually hope there is a line to get in, so you can linger in the manicured gardens where the view over Lake Michigan is as close to heaven as you're likely to get on earth. Time it right and you'll catch a captivating sunset that's more than worth the wait. Or better yet, try to get one of the dining tables outside and then raise your glass in a 'Hail to Chief Smolak' Smacznego!"

Legs Inn is conveniently located near historic places: Harbor Springs, Petoskey, Mackinaw City, Cheboygan and at the end of famed scenic route M119 "Tunnel of Trees."

Located in historic Cross Village, Michigan, Legs Inn is a "monument to nature." Built on a high bluff overlooking Lake Michigan, it is unique and mysterious as seen in its architecture and decor. The fantasy-like atmosphere of this medieval looking stone, timber and driftwood landmark was created by one man, Polish immigrant, Stanley Smolak. He fell in love with Northern Michigan and its people, many of them Ottawa and Chippewa Indians and decided to settle in Cross Village in 1921.

A blend of Old World European and Indian cultures creates a memorable atmosphere. The entry foyer, tavern, game and dining rooms are all filled with an intriguing collection of nature and hand carved furniture -- whimsical creations made of tree stumps, twisted limbs and roots, driftwood sculptures and massive fieldstone fireplaces.

Authentic Polish cuisine is our specialty, but delicious American dishes, including local fresh Whitefish, are also served. The Smolak family and staff are dedicated to making your visit to Legs Inn an unforgettable experience, which will have you returning often with family and friends throughout the years.

Throughout the decades Legs Inn has become a famous family destination and restaurant. It has been acknowledged and praised by major magazines, TV broadcasters, newspapers, travel-related web sites, tour guides and guests from across the country and around the world. We look forward to your visit.
